You Should Know That:
- They are yet to be registered by the AKC as they’re a mixed breed.
- Extremely intelligent breed and they’re known to learn very fast!
- They can be quite vocal and like the sound of their own voice so training will be required.
- They are also called the Yorkiechi, Chiyorkie, Yorkie-chi, Yorkchi, York-chi, Chiorkie and York Chi.
Chorkie puppies may be a good choice for allergy sufferers because of their low-shedding tendencies and the silky hair texture they inherit from their Yorkie parent.
Living Needs
This pup is incredibly quick to adapt, which makes the Chorkie dog breed perfect for house pets, with yards or apartments. Like any other breeds, if you're going to let your Chorkie roam free in the yard, verify that your fence is completely secure in case he gets curious about the outside world.
Chorkie puppies do well with kids but, as with all breeds, parents should take special care when introducing them to children. Teach young children to respect dogs' personal space and boundaries, as well as to watch where they step when a Chorkie is underfoot. Children may accidentally drop or toss a fragile Chorkie, so it's important to always supervise interactions between each other.
Care
Chorkie Puppies are low-maintenance dogs as compared to others, though it really depends on the characteristics they inherit from their two parent breeds. Many Chorkie pet parents take their dogs to the groomer, who can give them the latest haircut style and a little pampering, but all they really need is regular brushing and occasional baths. Fortunately, they don't shed much.
Be sure to set aside time to brush your pup's teeth whenever you can and don't forget to trim their nails and clean. To limit infections, clean your Chorkie's ears as well as the hair in and around his ears often. Your Chorkie may develop tear stains, so carefully wipe his eyes to remove discharge and debris.
Limited vs Full
Below will help you identify the differences between limited registration and full registration
Limited Registration
Limited registration: Applies to a puppy or dog which the owner does not consider breeding. The owner takes home a puppy or dog to be a pet or a hunting companion. After the owner registers the puppy with limited AKC papers, the puppy will be ineligible to join AKC breed competition in a licensed or member dog show. However, the puppy is still eligible to be entered in any other licensed or member event. The events include Obedience, Tracking, Herding, Field Trials, Hunting Tests, Lure Coursing, Agility and Earthdog. Also, if the dog with limited registration is bred, their puppies cannot be registered with the AKC.
Full Registration
Full registration: Is reserved for breeders and dogs that compete in AKC breed competition events. Also, if they get bred, their puppies can be registered with the AKC.
So what's the real difference?
If you are NOT a breeder, you DO NOT need full registration on your dog. Limited Registration can be changed to Full Registration only by the litter owner(s). The litter owner will need to obtain the Application to Revoke Limited Status and mail it to the AKC then the AKC will mail the owner the full registration copy. Limited Registration helps breeders protect their breeding programs and protect the breed and their breeding lines against puppy mills and back yard breeders. If you still need more information on limited vs full registration, email us or call/text us anytime. Hope this information helps.
